If you soap doesn't set up......I know there are ways to fix it.......there are boards out there dedicated to soap making and fixing mistakes. I am thinking you may be able to HOT process it if the cold process doesn't work....I hope it DOES work out.

Yea for backyard experiments! It definitely gives you respect for the time and effort it takes to raise your food. And great stats on the Bourbon Reds. We keep on trying different breeds and will focus on only one this year - maybe Reds!

Inspired by your initial foray into raising turkeys, we raised our first backyard heritage turkeys (5 Bourbon Reds) this year on Bainbridge Island. Beyond the first 6-7 weeks where they required daily attention, they were so easy to care for. With help from our neighbors, we butchered the Sunday before Thanksgiving - hens were 6.5 and 7.5 lbs, toms were 15, 17.5, and 19 lbs. Will definitely do it again - a great biology lesson for adults and kids alike! A friend down the road from you on Lovgreen raised heritage turkeys as well (Naragansett), and kept two for breeding - will be interesting to see if she gets viable eggs and poults. Cheers, Carolyn

Finnsheep fleece is not the easiest to find. You might be able to get a few weathers at the end of the season if a breeder has surplus that they can't easily sell. But there are not a lot of them...
